ABOUT JODIE LORD…

“I’m continually drawn back to the spontaneity of fluid art, playing with colours, composition and movement in my current range of artworks.

Art is totally subjective; so I believe if a piece really speaks to you, maybe it’s meant to be yours!”

Considering myself extremely blessed, I have lived in and travelled so many of Australia’s beautiful cities and towns. Perth, Western Australia was my home and having wonderful parents who fostered a love of road trips, holidays and exploring our country’s beauty, I have certainly moved around. Drawn to the stunning Australian outback, the Kimberleys, Darwin and Alice Springs fostered a love of all things earthy – the red dirt, the endless warmth, the sunsets, the waterholes and springs, the laid back lifestyle….it was all so different and inspiring!

Years later, the decision was made to slow our pace, quit our jobs and opt for running a business on the gorgeous Coral Coast of WA, where I developed a love of photography and natural landscapes. With an ever growing love of travel, the ocean and new adventures, we literally put a map of Australia on the wall and, blind folded, threw a dart at it (no point overthinking things right?). Packing our lives into a sea container, we made the decision to head across the country, chasing the sun and finding our dream destination (for now!). We have lived on the exquisite Capricorn Coast for the past 10 years. Google map it – it’s amazing! Together with Mikey and our furry kids ‘Eddie Betts’ and ‘Ollie’, we are lucky to live on a beautiful bush block only 15 minutes from the Coast, so inspiration for my love of art and colour is everywhere.

Acrylic fluid art is not all I do but it is where I am at right now. Currently, I flit between earthy, ethereal and in your face vibrant. I still enjoy playing with resin, alcohol inks, chalks and charcoal but I’m continually drawn back to the spontaneity of fluid art, playing with colours, composition and movement in my current range of artworks. Art is totally subjective; so I believe if a piece really speaks to you, maybe it’s meant to be yours!
